When you're out and about in the city and want to know what things around you have been tagged, you can request FoundCity tags on your cell phone. (You can do this without registering on the site). There are a couple of ways to do this:
By location
If you want, you can just enter '@' plus the street address of your curent location and send that to nyc@foundcity.net. You will get back a list of all of the tags within a few blocks of you. For example, sending a text message with
to nyc@foundcity.net would return all of the tags in that area, regardless of category.
By tag name
You can also request tags by name. For example you could send a text message with just
and get back all of the tags with that title, regardless of location.
Tag and location together
Finally, you can request tags on your cell for both tag and location, and get a list of just the things you're interested in, that are in your immediate area. So for example, if you want to see street art, and you're at 130 Ludlow Street, you would send
and get back a subset of 'street.art', tailored to your immediate surroundings.
